Learning French also entails discovering all aspects of French culture, including French cinema.

The teachers of ILCF's French culture and civilization courses, the sponsors of this project, are specialized in French cinema and notably the following themes:

  • The French Touch: Students acquire the fundamentals of film analysis, while discovering what the screened films have to say about their creators and contemporaneous French society.
  • Cinematic Paris: Students become more familiar with Paris thanks to the cinematographic representation of its different districts by various film-makers.
  • Panorama of French cinema : Students discover French films, directors and major movements, from the earliest spoken films to the present day.

The kind of movies you can see:

1. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain by Jean-Pierre Jeunet
2. La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz
3. Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu ? by Philippe De Chauveron

Each film is selected and commented upon by ILCF teachers, specialized in the subject.
After each session, the film is discussed by the students and teacher.
