The Diplôme Universitaire d'Etudes Françaises (DUEF), accredited by the ADCUEFE, is recognized by 40 French universities. It is awarded by ILCF-Paris after 15 hours of classes per week for a minimum of 1 semester. Depending on your level of French, the number of hours will vary. The minimum is 210 hours per semester.
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
(CERCL) LEVEL A1 (from 210h to 294h)
The aim is to acquire the basics of oral and written communication in everyday life, with a view to understanding and being understood.
CERCL LEVEL A2 (from 210h to 294h)
The aim is to master the basics of oral and written communication in social life in France.
Requirements for the DUEF A1 and A2:
- Enrolment in a semester-long French language course (15h to 21h per week).
- Pass the continuous assessment and final exams
- Participate actively in class
- Obtain an average grade in all tests (10/20)
- Regular attendance
CERCL LEVEL B1 (from 210h to 294h)
The objectives are to:
- Understand factual information and speeches in everyday French
- Be able to take part in a conversation on familiar and topical subjects
- Write simple, coherent texts and present experiences
- Write an argumentative letter and comment on an iconographic and/or numerical document.
CERCL LEVEL B2 (from 210h to 294h)
Goals are to:
- Understand factual information and speeches in everyday French.
- Be able to take part in a conversation on complex subjects
- Write coherent, detailed texts to explain and argue on complex issues
- Write an argument
CERCL LEVEL C1 (from 210h to 294h)
Goals are to:
- Understand practically everything heard and all types of text
- Express yourself fluently and clearly in continuous speech, and adapt your language register.
- Write the types of texts used in the French university curriculum: dissertation, synthesis, report, etc.
Requirements for the DUEF B1, B2 and C1:
- Enrolment in a semester-long French language course (15h per week)
- Enrolment in an afternoon civilization course of 3 hours per week
- Pass the continuous assessment and final exams
- Participate actively in class
- Obtain an average grade for all exams (10/20)
- Be assiduous
