Yumi TSUKAMOTO is a student at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. She is currently studying at ICP as an exchange student for a year. Read more about her unique experience.
Why did you choose to come to Paris and in particular the ILCF program at ICP?
I’m currently an exchange student at the Institut Catholique de Paris, so most of my classes are at ICP and I have one class at ILCF. I decided to take French courses at ILCF to improve my French in order to better understand the classes at ICP that I take with native French speakers.
How has ILCF helped you to improve your French and what has been your favorite part of the program so far?
I currently have a B1 level in French, ILCF has helped me to experience many things I would never be able to do in my country.
My favorite course was the History of Art class offered at ILCF. The students in this class have the unique opportunity to participate in the “Les Jeunes Ont La Parole” event at the Musée du Louvre, where they give a presentation about the paintings in front of the visitors. This was a truly unforgettable experience in Paris, for all of the students and myself.
What are your goals upon completing the program ?
Of course, improving my French in order to take ICP courses with native French speakers. And experience things we can do only in Paris.
Why would you recommend this program to others?
ILCF offers various classes in French, not only language classes but also on French culture with very interesting content. All of the classes are made up of international students, with dedicated professors, who adapt the content according to our level in French. We can have conversations and make friends with people of different nationalities, ages, coming from different cultures and speaking various languages.
Any advice for others who are looking to study in Paris?
Studying at ILCF will surely help you to make your stay in Paris, more fruitful than you could ever imagine.
